Ezel Feliz on SoundBetter

Multi-instrumentalist / Producer / Mixing and Mastering Engineer all rolled into one.

I am professionally trained musician, producer and audio engineer all rolled into one. I thrive on the multi-disciplinary aspects of what I do to provide solutions to my clients, sometimes using one or more of the tools and trades that I have on my arsenal. While I fare really well in almost all styles of modern music (Funk, Soul, R&B, Pop, EDM etc...) I specialize in dance music (DJ/Producer of House Music myself, so anything 4x4 its on my main field of action) If you are looking for attention to the fine details in music composition, originality on music performance and the ability to completely follow any given reference and create something spectacular with the highest standards of sonic quality, then look no further as I am your guy. My approach is one of co-creation. You set the parameters and I take care of the rest.

Would love to hear from you. Click the contact button above to get in touch.

Interview with Ezel Feliz

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: Producing film music (that's regular), Being a Ghost Producer of EDM House DJs/Producers (also regular), working on some jazz fusion material for a client in the UK etc.. mixing dance music etc.. just busy and happy!

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Both, always important to never neglect any useful tools. In a fight its all about the tools you have. Same with music production, you never know what little trick down your sleeve is gonna create the impact you are after!

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: Nothing but GREAT RESULTS!

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: Working on music and audio is my passion! What I like the most is that I get to do it on a daily basis, that I am successful freelance professional that manages its own enterprise, own his own time and works very hard to deliver satisfaction and great results!

  9. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  10. A: My cuestions always look to over clarify the artist/client vision, to really get to know what they are after. So in that regard I try to get as much information about the project as possible and also give as much feedback and clarification about my process so that we can fully get into the task of handling business and getting the best results.

  11. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  12. A: The only advice I could give them is to get to know me first by listening to the audio demos I provide on this page. If they like the musicality and they envision me working with them. Then is already done the other stuff is easy is just getting acquainted and getting to terms. My goal is to provide SOLID results! within fast timeframes and always maximize on the artist/client vision!

  13. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  14. A: Blessed to have been doing this for more than 15 years now

  15. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  16. A: Remember that everything is a process.

  17. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  18. A: I would say the most accurate answer would be GOOD MUSIC. Honestly I touch almost all sort of music styles on a weekly basis. Wether is outside of sound better doing a lot of ghost production for EDM, Electronic Music artists, or being a session musician for pop acts and even working on film music project on the regular, I consider myself a Swiss Army of a producer and complete music man. That being said I believe that coming from a Soul/R&B Modern Electronic sound background really gives me an edge in this styles.

  19. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  20. A: First and foremost my personal feeling, my musical soul. A personal touch that you can't teach or get anywhere. Others might be good but I guarantee you, you won't find somebody exactly like me, in the unique combination of my musical talents, vision, psychology working with clients getting their absolute best results and extremely clear upfront work ethic. That could be break down into 4 elements: 1) Experience (Always making music myself, so I get to learn and improve all my route of action) 2) Passion (I am really commited to make the best out of everything I get into) 3) Workflow ( I have a precise set of tools that include human and equipment resources that I use to the maximum of my capabilities to bring forth work without excuses in a given timeframe) 4) Personality ( As much as I can sucesfully emulate, sounds, vibes and more due to the degree of my expertise I like to believe I have my own sound and that's something I believe brings a lot to the table and my clients benefit from it)

  21. Q: What's your typical work process?

  22. A: The first is to engage with the client and listen to his ideas and vision. I observe them from the point of view of me also being an artist and creator and from there there invite them to dive in the the sonic and music possibilities that I have to offer that I believe might benefit them and their project . After listening to the client initial ideas, sketches, demos, etc and making proper assessment of what it could be brought to the table, always taking in high consideration the artist/client own vision and direction. I put all my resources at their disposal, whereas being a multi-instrumentalist, beatmaker, drum programmer, audio engineer both for mix and mastering, its all there for the me and the client to design a route of action in order to get the results they are after.

  23. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  24. A: Based on Mac with solid front end which consist of a SSL mixing board, NEVE & API pres. Everything goes thru an UAD apollo system of several audio interfaces. On the instrument side and being specialized in keyboards, synths and drum machines, my arsenal includes: Minimoog, MFB Dominion 1, Korg Arp Oddysey, Dave Smith OB6, SH101, Roland Juno60, Access Virus TI2 Polar, Dave Smith Toraiz AS-1 (mini pro 1) and few other things laying around. On the vintage keys department I have a real Fender Rhodes Stage MKII, Wurlitzer 200a, Hammond L100 organ. My list of instruments and gear is constantly growing as I aspire to be as updated and prepared with as much arsenal as possible to provide the absolute best results in my field.

  25. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  26. A: My work mainly focus on my musicianship and what I can bring to the table to already good ideas that might need a special element or particular treatment that I can offer. I work several angles of the music production experience including session musician (keyboards), music production (ghost producer, beatmaker) and audio engineering (professional mixing & mastering) My influences emerge from the Deep & Soulful sides of Electronic / R&B Music. From there I provide color that can reach many styles including house, disco, funk, urban, soul, R&B , latin, pop you name it.

  27. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  28. A: I believe is the integrated vision of things and special set of combined skills that can bring forth a really special and unique sound from its conception (music performance) to its development (audio processing/mixing) all the way to the final product.
