I mix and master records for singer-songwriters — folk, indie, and acoustic-driven pop. Major-label experience (Republic, Atlantic), 200M+ streams, and an independent artist's ear for what a song actually needs. I mix like a producer: I'm listening to the whole song, not just pushing faders.
I'm Mark Diamond — a producer, mixer, and songwriter in Los Angeles, and I specialize in mixing records for independent singer-songwriters.
My background is a little different from most engineers for hire. I came up as an artist and writer — releases on Republic Records and Atlantic, 200M+ streams, and years touring and making records from the inside.
That means when I mix your song, I'm not just balancing levels. I'm thinking about the same things you are: where the emotion lives, what to bring forward, what to leave alone. Less is more. I'm protecting the moment that made you want to release the song in the first place.
The work I love most is taking something intimate — a vocal and an acoustic guitar, a rough demo you can't stop listening to — and turning it into a finished, release-ready record without losing what made it feel like yours. Folk, indie-folk, singer-songwriter, soft pop. If that's your world, it's mine too.
I also play acoustic, electric, and rubber-bridge guitar, so if a song needs a part, I can add that too.
Reach out through the green button above and tell me about your song — what it is, where it's stuck, and what you want it to feel like. Let's get to work.
I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Interview with Mark Diamond
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. It depends on the song.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will give your song my all.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Creativity and connection.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Where do ideas come from? I get asked that a lot. For me, I'm not sure where they come from but I know that I spend a lot of time respecting and nurturing whatever that connection is.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Production can be learned quickly. (it takes a longgg time)
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What are some songs in your life that have made you feel something recently?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Working with others can take your work to a place you never could've imagined.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Acoustic Guitar, Midi Keyboard, Computer, SSL Interface, SM57
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been doing music full-time for over 8 years. I signed to Republic Records in 2018 after my first album started gaining serious traction. After a few years with a major label, I decided independent life suited me more and I haven't looked back since. When I was younger I wanted to be an airline pilot, however after being involved in a near-death experience while flying, it reshaped the way I view life, and began chasing my first love, music.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Intentional and warm.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Sasha Sloan. The minimalism in her work is beautiful and despite the limited tracks, the songs can feel so large.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Less is more.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Singer-Songwriter, Folk / Folk-Pop
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Capturing a moment.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring life to the songs I work and pave the way for its truest version to come through.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: To help someone else finish their song, I love having the time to sit with the song in its most simple form. For example, just an acoustic track and a fairly dry vocal take and turning into a proper record that's ready for release.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a studio set up at my home here in Los Angeles.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I have been inspired by so many bands throughout my life. In the earlier years, it was Snow Patrol, Augustana and The Frey that really got me writing and creating music. Nowadays its a mixture of old and new artists!
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I produce and mix folk/singer-songwriter songs.
