Spicy Violin on SoundBetter

We've all heard of vocal production but have you ever experienced VIOLIN production? For too long, classical violinists have gone to professional studios to record parts that could easily be replicated by a Kontakt library. You need someone who has spent their entire life mastering violin and recording. You need Spicy Violin.

Hi, I'm James and I created the style I call "Spicy Violin." It's a combination of my classical upbringing, fiddling/bluegrass influences, and my love of pop music. The style involves lots of tasteful slides, riffs, trills, and other accoutrements that most violinists neglect or think is "wrong."

I am a firm believer in the statement: "If it sounds good, it is good." Violinists are chronically elitist and will shun and look down on anyone who does things a different way. However, that is their downfall. Classical music is dying and it's because classical players are failing to innovate.

Spicy Violin is the opposite of that. I'm always learning new ways to make myself sound better (pun definitely intended) and bring maximum value to my clients.

I started violin at the age of 4 so I have been playing regularly for 25+ years now, and when I was 15, I bought a Presonus Audiobox interface and a $100 condenser microphone. I didn't know it at the time, but that was the start of my recording journey.

Efficiency and organization is super important if you want to do anything at a high level, and those are two things I have not neglected. You can ask my file hierarchies.

If you're looking for violin, viola, or cello that sounds realistic, near-perfect, with zero tuning/timing artefacts, you've come to the right place. I look forward to helping you!

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

I had James do a cover of my wife's and my wedding song for outlr anniversary. It was perfect.
A little context, we had our first date 5 years ago and he was playing outside in Austin. My wife recorded some of the performance, fast forward 5 years and the video pops up in my memories on Facebook and I see he has a sign with his name and socials. I reach out about this killer anniversary gift idea and he delivered! 10/10 highly recommend.
