Where do I start? I got to work with quite a few singers here and I have never encountered a level of professionalism like Lena's.
Recordings, melody and writing at a very high level.
Professional attitude with lots of caring and amazing execution.
Highly recommend to anyone looking for an amazing singer - check_circleVerified
Lena writes THE best toplines. With exactly the right amount of professionalism, kindness and reachability, she just killed it on our project. On top of that, she showed great sensitivity for the track and the references and also had the courage to give some honest feedback on the production. đ
All in all, if you're searching for somebody who's working on the highest level and will dig deep into the project, Lena should be your top candidate! đ - check_circleVerified

Interview with Lena Sue
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I once wrote a song for "PARA- Wir sind King" a german Series on Sky, (now it's on amazon) and it's so suspenseful and full of emotions. It was the song that came way at the end of an episode and kind of blended into the credits-soundtrack. My job was to write a topline that had all states of emotions of the four characters in on song: Love, Loss, Hate and Hope. It was the coolest thing and it worked! I'm really proud of that, especially because writing for film/synching music to picture was always a childhood dream of mine. I still love it so much. It's called "Let it rain on us".
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: New songs and more songs :)
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Bastiqe and Chirs Möhlenkamp!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog cause cult and digital cause - let's face it- it's so simple and easy. But I want to say analog, because I'm so scared that one day, there will be no difference between the two. And they already managed to "fake" a guitarist, drummer, orchestras and even singers! (probably a whole different subject though)
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I'm authentic and I'm very professional. Easy to negotiate with and very honest and fair!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The spontaneity and the variety of it all. It's just so crazy how many combinations of words there are!!
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: I don't get many questions come to think of it! But if I do, it's mostly what my fee is. And then I tell them my fee :')
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Selling my soul. Cause I'm really really keeping it in one piece right where it belongs.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What they want to sound like and who inspires them. But that depends on how much we get into talking. I once asked a fellow collaber if he was a dog- or catperson
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Good question, no clue! Look beyond the pitch and very persuading information in their profiles.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Really? :D I wouldn't take gear haha. Cause, there's no electricity right?
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been writing toplines straight out of my College of Music years in the Netherlands back in 2017. Never stopped since, but I got into filming and teaching singing and songwriting along the way, as well.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Edgy, but breakable, fierce yet touching, deep but curvy
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I'd like to work with Tujamo or Robin Schulz once, but manly because I'd really like to know what they are like on a personal level, not behind the social media-frenzy
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I believe everyone works their own way, so no idea what is considered a tip to be honest :D
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Actually anything, really! I do lots of commercial work, so it's all over the place! From Reggae to Folk to Soul and back to Dance.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Hooks & Goosebumps
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: A super unique sound I'm told :)
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I love to get inspired by artists with a similar vibe, or even a movie (cause why not?) and then I just sit down with my laptop and start typing lyrics. I always got my phone right next to me, to record any ideas that come with the lyrics. Which is always the case. I'm super forgetful, so obviously the recording function is a live saver, everywhere I go. The classic idea in the shower always works for me, as well
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I got a super cosy home studio with a descent set up, love my Neumann U87! I work with Logic pro X and got everything I need right in my home :)
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm a big fan of simple but brilliant lyric, like Lauv or Charlie Pooth would write. Also I love Dua's voice, she's got that low edge. I wouldn't be writing pop music at all without Prince though! He was the spark I needed to light in order to get super psyched about pop music in general.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I'm usually asked to write a topline. It's always really easy and fun and I love how different everyone's sound is and jumping on to their ID's is a great training, next to pure fun of course!
