Lele did such an amazing job mixing and mastering my tracks. Now they sound really warm, clear and consistent. He did also a great job on vocals that are really on focus and sit perfect in the mix. I loved the artistic contribute that he gave to my music not just "making the right levels" but also adding some "colors" from his taste! He's also such a nice person, easy to comunicate and understand what the artist is searching for. 5 stars!

Put simply Lele is the best there is! Having used his services for a couple of years now to mix and master my bands tracks, we couldn't have worked with a nicer, more easier going person! Lele is patient, has an incredible work ethic and takes the time to understand your direction and vision to help you achieve it. I wouldn't want to work with anyone else, as I know it would be difficult to find anyone that comes close to achieving what Lele does!

Lele is a wonderful musician and a wonderful human being. Truly gifted, he has an extraordinary taste in guitar post production elements and groove making, he is a very good listener and finds non conventional ways and paths through the sound architecture. We worked together for my latest album and it's been a very pleasant experience: he recorded some guitars and basses, added some production, did the final mix and mastering. I hope this is only the first milestone of a long artistic journey together. Absolutely recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had the pleasure to work with Lele many times in the past. He’s simply one of the best musicians I know. He has a great taste in everything music, has a strong knowledge of many music genres and his down to earth attitude, puts him in the best position to learn whatever is needed for the task at hand. A part from being super skilled, Lele is a great human being, with a very strong sense of humor. Working with him means having a great mentor, you won’t regret it.

Explain him how you feel and you can be sure that he can translate it into music. This guy is terrific, both from the human and professional point of view. If I have to use some adjectives to describe him, I would say: qualified, eclectic, efficient, meticulous. It was a real pleasure working with him! Definitely 5 stars

Tradurre in musica qualunque sensazione.

Interview with Lele Gambera

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: One is a work I did with and for Paolo Buonvino and Jovanotti for the song " A casa tutti bene " that was the theme for a G. Muccino's film. I did the add productions, programming and played some guitars. That work made me proud for the trust that such big artists gave to me. Another one was a song I wrote together with all the score for a film where I called my father to sing it..And was an incredible emotional and magic moment.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: -Finishing to mix 2 Ep's...One is for a pop singer...the other is a giant soundscape oriented composer. -starting to produce a song. -starting a rework for a movie theme song. ( and trying to have to time to studying bass lol )

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Analog is gold. Digital is fast. I m a digital guy just cause the business needs. But with an analog awareness. In fact when possibile is always fun and beautiful working with analog piece of gears. I mean Put a voice inside a Tube Tech CL 1B followed by a Pultec Eq...is that magic?!?!

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: I ll do the best I can.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: Living the Art. Make things happen out of nowhere. Create. Studying and discovering new things and new people.

  11. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  12. A: 1q .If I do revisions. 2q. To be fast but precise. 1a: Yes I do. 2a : I m ready!! PS: But If something needs more time to be done I then ask them to give me more time to have the best work I can do for them.

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: I m a record mixer, I m not a magician. And I could say when I m producing..I can do the best beat or composition I can, but I can't feel the emotion for the artist that is singing or performing. That's something that sometimes happens. My work is also understand if their feelings are not aligned with the things they re saying during the song..and maybe help them find a motivation and a right direction, usually a good hour talking about life eating or drinking something is just what they ( we ) need.

  15. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  16. A: Are you sure u wanna be in the music business !? Is full of crazy people. - if not : change work. - if yes : c'mon, let's have fun!

  17. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  18. A: Looking for a skilled person but not forget to verify he's a good listener. both on human and music point of views.

  19. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  20. A: A classical guitar would be enough. I mean...on a desert island!!!!

  21. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  22. A: I've always been a musician. At 12 I did my first concert. now I m 35. And 10 years mixing and producing.

  23. Q: How would you describe your style?

  24. A: i m deep in every note I do. And precise in every technique or gear i choose, or even not to choose.

  25. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  26. A: Kanye West. Cause his being eclectic resonate with me. Music is not only music, is vision, is philosophy. Music to be alive needs a reason to exist and to be.

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: Melodyne is underrated ...Use it in your synth stems and go deep with it :)

  29. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  30. A: As said I m versatile...I could work on a super ethereal track in the morning, and record a funky bass on the afternoon. And then mixing a rock metal song the day after.

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: I m the best listener alive.

  33. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  34. A: If I am mixing...colors. If I am producing or playing ...colors. Transparent is a color too ;)

  35. Q: What's your typical work process?

  36. A: For me is important to have a conversation with my clients before starting to thinking to work. It's important to have clear ideas of what is important for the client and what the goal is, then discussing what is the best way to achieve it. After that...leave the ego at home..and starting to have fun.

  37. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  38. A: I m a ITB guy...I mean..where in the 2022, let our ears do the job. I have a lot of plugins ( but using few....a little bit more of a few ). And I work with a pair of Dynaudio Lyd 48. The Daw i use the most is Logic X.

  39. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  40. A: I consider my self an omnivorous listener, so it's hard, to tell every kind of music or artist or professional that I like. Cause the music for me is really something that goes with emotions and feelings, so change day by day. For sure I love : Ennio Morricone, Pat Metheny, Jaco, The Beatles, Queen, Domenico Modugno, Daft Punk, Zedd, Skrillex, Pfm, Dream Theater, 30 seconds to Mars, Subsonica, Kanye, Porcupine Tree, Kings of Convenience, Coldplay, RATM, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Ólafur Arnalds, Michel Petrucciani....and soooooo on.. I really love the beautiful music, and that one made with passion that goes deep in your soul. Ps: I love Michael Brauer and Mick Guzauski way of working ( talking about engineers ).

  41. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  42. A: Since I m both a mix engineer ( even if I prefer call my job record engineer ) and producer/composer. It depends. - If I am mixing I work to bring to life the production sound, and try, with the artist or client with I m working with, to find the right direction for the sound He/She is looking for. - If I am producing a song or composing pieces for spots or film I try to give a sound vision to the artist, basically building something that let He/She feels comfortable and shine in a custom made sound territory, like a dressmaker I sew a dress on is ideas. The same with film scoring, the important thing, to me, is understand the director feelings and understand when and what type of themes and soundscapes, ( and when ) they are important to make the scenes "talk" to the viewers and try to move the public feelings.
