Andrea Lamacchia

Eclectic Italian Bass player

Andrea Lamacchia on SoundBetter

Double bass player, he plays w/ Vinicio Capossela, the best Italian folksinger actually and has recorded with him for Universal Music with Marc Ribot, Alessandro Stefana, Jim White (P.J. Harvey). His goal is to bring contemporary techniques for double bass into popular music while respecting the composition, his style and what the music requires.

I am an eclectic musician. I specialized in jazz and classical music but in the last ten five years I have deepened the contemporary repertoire for contemporary double bass that I try to translate into all the music I usually play.

I studied privately in New York with Joe Solomon (a student of Lennie Tristano) and with Ralph Alessi at the SIM School in Brooklyn. I obtained a master degree in classical double bass at Conservatoire "Santa Cecilia"in Rome with Daniele Roccato; a Jazz master degree at Conservatorie "G.B.Martini" in Bologna, and a 2-years jazz master at Siena Jazz where I've studied with Eddie Gomez, Anders Jormin, Drew Gress, Rufus Reid, Eric Harland, John Taylor, Enrico Pieranunzi, Billy Hart among others.

I've toured all around the world playing jazz, classical, electro-acoustic, pop, improvised, world music with Stefano Battaglia (ECM), Anthony Braxton Sonic Genome, Claudio Fasoli (Perigeo), Carlo Atti, Francesco Bearzatti, Emanuele Cisi, The Matmos, Victor Herrero, Mikey Kenney, Tristan Honsinger, James Newton, Biagio Antonacci, Riccardo Muti, Achille Succi, Giovanni Falzone, Michael Gassmann among others.
