Bailey Jeffs on SoundBetter

Bailey Jeffs is a full service songwriter & producer ready to take your demos/songs to the next level. Whether it be fleshing out a demo into a full song or really nailing that final mix. Focusing on indie electronic, indie pop & bedroom pop. Jeffs would love to connect and work with you.

Hey I'm Bailey.
I've been writing and producing music for the last 7 years. I primarily make music for my own indie projects "LUUNG" & "August Maybe," but also work with other artists doing production, mixing and top-lining.
I am primarily an "in the box" producer/mix engineer, and tend to work with indie/bedroom artists. It is a workflow that I understand intimately and love. Let's make some music together!

Here are somethings I'd love to help with:
- Production, whether it be starting from scratch or something you've already spent a bit of time on.
- Mixing, maybe you produced it yourself? And the track just needs that final 10%
- Discussing your vision and inspiration for the project and helping you articulate the direction you want to take it.

Things to note:
- I'm confident on guitar, bass, keys and vocals. So if I can help in these areas then I will always include it in the 'production' rate.
- If we wanted to outsource any outside musicians (live drums, etc.), we would just add their rates to the price.
- I prefer not to master my own work, but know some great mastering engineers that I can source.

I'm always happy to work with any kind of budget depending on what your needs are. So don't hesitate to get in touch.

Would love to hear from you. Click the contact button above to get in touch.

We needed a track to launch the rebranding our streaming platform watchgood.com. We gave Bailey a brief from our new brand guideline, including a brand persona to target and Bailey produced the hero track for our branding launch.
He was super flexible and able to provide variations on the main hero track to assist with our video editing and having a variety of tonal shifts to suit different emotive visuals.
We were very impressed with both the results and his professionalism to work with.

Bailey is my go to for every mix. I’ve had him work on 5 songs and he has transformed every last one of them into something I never would have dreamed of. His work has garnered over 8k streams in 6 months for my first two tracks and also helped me get into an artist development program, which would have never been possible without his attentive oversight and patient attention to detail. His mastery and passion for the craft shows in literally every aspect of his work. It’s the kind of care and precision you could never pay enough for. Owe him everything - if you want good work, get him on it.

Bailey & I have collaborated on two singles in 2021, which have garnered 30,000+ streams (for a small indie artist like me, that's super cool!). For me, working with Bailey was the perfect balance of damn good quality, and approachability/affordability for an indie artist. His production is lush and beautiful, and I knew he wanted the songs to be done right, he takes it seriously and hones his craft. Anyway, can't recommend him enough! Interview with Bailey Jeffs

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: Just writing lots of music for my own projects. I'm playing with some more country inspired sounds for my LUUNG project. And i'm diving deep into the electronic space with August Maybe.

  3. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  4. A: Jordan Grace, is an incredible songwriter and top-liner, working mainly in the EDM space.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Digital. You can do so much in the box, it's incredible. Most of my favourite artists and producers work entirely in the box. So you can't say that it's not possible to make good music that way. But long term, I would love to have a fully analogue master chain, I think it would complement the work flow nicely.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: The fact that I get to do music full time. This is my dream. Hopefully I can continue to do so.

  9. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  10. A: I like to keep things general at the start. What's your 2 favourite artist? (gut reaction) 2 artists that you think influenced the music you're making? Is there an artist that you heard and made you go "yeah I want to make music now?" Is there a song that comes to mind that you think is sonically perfection. All very subjective things, but I want to know what gets you excited.

  11. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  12. A: If you're uncertain about taking a "chance" on me. Why don't trial me on a mix. I love mixing and it is a more cost effective way to get an idea of whether you want to work with me further. I get it, committing to a full production is a big investment.

  13. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  14. A: Grew up playing guitar and playing in a couple bands. Did some work experience in a couple studios and got super excited to learn more about production. I worked in Film and Television for the last 6 years, focusing on editing, with the odd sound design or concept music job. Whilst simultaneously, writing and producing for myself and other artists. I went part time at my job and did music 2/3 days a week. Now i'm doing music full time.

  15. Q: How would you describe your style?

  16. A: Dreamy, Gooey, Balanced, Warm, Lush.

  17. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  18. A: My dream would be to work with Phoebe Bridgers, she is my favourite songwriter. Her team making the most beautiful productions. And they are never boring.

  19. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  20. A: The biggest lightbulb production tip for me was learning how/when to high and low pass unnecessary frequencies. It is a total game changer when it comes to making great sound design for a song. I always think of music production like a puzzle, the pieces only fit in one way, and you gotta be able to carve out space so that every sound is serving its purpose and can be heard.

  21. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  22. A: I generally work on any thing that has the word "indie" in the genre. I like being a bit different, trying things that are outside of the norm. But that doesn't mean i'm not open to working on a pop country song.

  23. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  24. A: Having done the indie artist thing for a number of years, my strongest skill has to be helping craft an aesthetic. Taking a song, and finding the sonic world that it lives in. Creating sounds that best accompanies the artists brand and style.

  25. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  26. A: My studio set up is pretty minimal, as it is just the spare room in my apartment. Pair of yamaha monitors, two channels of a neve & chandler style pre amps. Beeznees Microphone. Some nice guitars and my Roland Juno 106. I've got some basic acoustic treatment, (as much as i'm allowed in a rental). But the real game changer for my productions and mixes was room correction. It's gets the room sounding super flat, and honestly makes it a pretty capable space.

  27. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  28. A: 2 things. I'm super inspired by the indie DIY scene (think Golden Vessel, San Holo), the way producers manage to be so creative with such minimal gear. It seems so inclusive and there is a love for collaboration in that space. But I'm also just a sucker for the ultra slick and shiny "rock band" sound. The guys involved with LANY are top notch.
