Greetings traveller, my name is Jack and I am a musician, producer and audio engineer from the UK, specialising in rock, pop, electronic, ambient music and podcasts

I have an impressive track record of creating punchy, trippy and expansive mixes to gained international acclaim. With experience in the studio, home recording and using DAW's, I pride myself in the ability to produce great results in a wide range of musical genres. You can trust me to deliver your job on time and with a high level of quality. Whatever we make together will sound the best is possibly can!

Over the last few years I have been playing in a psych rock/pop band that I co-founded called Floral Image, where I write, record, produce and mix our songs. These songs have been played on BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 1, Radio X and Amazing Radio and have received support from the likes of Amy Lamé, Tom Robinson, Huw Stephens & Jamz Supernova. The band has also received international press and has listeners all across the World, including strong fanbases in the UK, North America and Europe. My style has often been compared to Tame Impala, King Gizzard and Temples

As well as producing the band's psych rock recordings, I also create electronic dance remixes of our songs. My inspirations for my electronic creations are Andrew Wetherall, Aphex Twin and Floating Points

Interview with Jack Warner

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: In dream world, analogue, however digital is often just as good and SO more affordable

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: I will make your song/podcast the best it can possibly sound and will make sure no stone is unturned. Also, communication is key! You can rely on me to always let you know the progress of our project and ask for feedback.

  5. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  6. A: Who your influences are, what your turnarounds are, how you recorded your music, how you aim to release your music. I'm just interested in you and your musical journey!

  7. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  8. A: Make sure you are happy with the style of their previous works and that they 'get' your vibe

  9. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  10. A: Upright piano, electric generator, synthesier, audio interface, Mac computer

  11. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  12. A: I started producing in 2018 where I attended the SubBass School of Electronic Music where I learnt basic and advance production, mixing and mastering. Since then I have worked in Catch 21 Studios in Norwich, recording, producing and mixing bands, including my band Floral Image. Over the past 5 years I have vastly improved my audio skills and have had songs played on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and Radio X.

  13. Q: How would you describe your style?

  14. A: Retro, crunchy and warm

  15. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  16. A: I would love to work with Kevin Parker (not that it will ever happen). He is a master of drum sound, production and mixing and he seems like a lovely chap.

  17. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  18. A: Parallel compression will change your life, especially on vocals. YouTube it!

  19. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  20. A: I usually work on psychedelia, rock, pop and techno.

  21. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  22. A: I am a meticulous mixer who never misses a trick. I trust my taste too so I always follow my ears and mix to serve the song.

  23. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  24. A: I pride myself on being very versatile with the songs I work on, often with an expansive and trippy nature. Given my love of pop, psychedelia and electronic music, I have the ability to tap into all of these genres and mix songs as required. Having worked on songs that have been played on national radio, I know all the tips of the trade to make a song hit just right for the commercial market.

  25. Q: What's your typical work process?

  26. A: To make sure that we are on the same page, I will ask my clients for reference tracks and influences where I will adapt the mix based on these. Once I have the stems, I prepare the mix, clean and correct each stem, then tonally edit audio (EQ and compression) and add creative mixing such as FX, wobbles and flavour. Once each individual track is mixed, I will blend all of the components together, move tracks in busses/groups, adjusting knobs as I go. Once a first mix is ready, I will undertake up to 4 revisions to make sure we are all happy with the final product.

  27. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  28. A: My home studio focuses around my wondeful Mac computer where I use Logic Pro X and a hoard of plugins, including Waves and Kontact. My curent interface is the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 and I use KRK Rokit 6 monitors to mix my tracks.

  29. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  30. A: Kevin Parker, Stu McKenzie, Jon Hopkins, Max Cooper, Aphex Twin, Floating Points, Jim James, Danger Mouse

  31. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  32. A: Producing, mixing and remixing music in my home studio in Norwich, UK. I also edit and master podcasts, write jingles and do keyboard and synth session work.
