Ari Voxx

Topline Writing and Pop Vocals

Ari Voxx on SoundBetter

Dynamic, ethereal vocals and extremely catchy melody writing. How many can say they have these natural talents?

"Filled with sparkly riffs, keyboard, synths beats, and Voxx’s dramatic vocal range…’I’m Okay, Please Stop Asking’ rewards listeners with everything that was promised." - Washington City Paper

Ari Voxx is DC’s Dreamy Pop Princess. Well-versed in many different music worlds, she focuses on writing music that is eclectic and authentically her, transcending genres. With a sound heavily inspired by the moods and vibes of 80s/90s new-wave and pop artists, a performance from Ari Voxx and The Sad Lads casts an encompassing nostalgic atmosphere over the listener. Expect to experience misty soundwaves propelled by pulsating beats, generously draped with precise, dynamic vocals. Their genre-bending debut album entitled "I'm Okay, Please Stop Asking" is available on all streaming platforms now!

Voxx’s vocal confidence is palpable. The black, queer singer’s acrobatic voice jockeys for position, refusing to be categorized in a world determined to push it down to a manageable level and a comfortable box. It’s this projected strength that threatens to convince us of some of her most morose lyrical sentiments, but on IOPSA, there is light peaking through every dark room, and black shadows on the brightest of days.

Interview with Ari Voxx

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I just released my first full length album with my band, Ari Voxx & The Sad Lads. It's called "I'm Okay, Please Stop Asking," and is available to stream on every platform now! Here's a blurb about it: On her debut album “I’m Okay, Please Stop Asking”, Ari Voxx bares her pastel-glam soul with 10 songs that explore personal self-worth, depression, fantasies, and the exploration of the human condition. The dreamy melancholy of her songwriting is realised by the Sad Lads: Jegug Ih (guitar/keys), Ryan Boshart (bass/keys), and Ben Tufts (drums). "Ari Voxx isn’t telling us the whole truth. On I’m Okay, Please Stop Asking, the veteran of a hundred genres has found new purchase as the powerhouse front of the Sad Lads, a three-piece ensemble of equally decorated players whose technicolor sound ranges from space-age exotica to icy cool 80’s-tinged synth pop. But while her wrenching lyrics signal resignation, her indelible spirit tells us otherwise." - Braeden Henderson https://open.spotify.com/album/3YvIdGWlRxWvs7XHlZVVXc?si=OhdWpPS5R5mUSXBj3exMtg

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: I love expressing myself creatively, as well as being able to put myself in someone else's shoes to help make their artistic vision come to life!

  5. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  6. A: I'm a full-time musician, and have been for about 5 years. I'm currently focusing on my original music career, but I also front and manage a jazz band that performs at weddings and corporate private events.

  7. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  8. A: The music that I write for my own original project can best be described as dreamy indie/alt pop with 80s synthpop and new wave influences. It's definitely a mix of pop, rock, and electronica.

  9. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  10. A: Besides writing catchy hooks, definitely ethereal falsetto background vocals and interesting harmonies.

  11. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  12. A: I bring an eclectic perspective to songwriting, as I'm well-versed in many genres, and enjoy uniting them in a single project for a unique and interesting listening experience.

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: I mostly write lyrics and melodies/harmonies for hooks/choruses on Rap or Electronic songs.
