Professional Sound Mixing

Jackson Greer on SoundBetter

LA mixing engineer/producer with 9+ years of experience, specializing in rock, indie, alternative, folk, and related genres. I always work with a heavy emphasis on communication with the client. My goal as a mixer is to help you get your track sounding the way you envisioned it, and beyond.

I'm Jackson, an experienced mixing engineer and music producer working out of my home studio in San Pedro, Los Angeles. I have been mixing and engineering music for nearly a decade and have worked as a producer, artist, composer, and performer for almost two decades. What I hope to bring to your project is a touch of soul and musicality you might not get from other mixers—along with professional excellence and clear, consistent, and honest client communication. I also do compositional and string/horn/orchestral arrangements.

Interview with Jackson Greer

  1. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  2. A: To me, mixing is presenting the arrangement in a way that serves the emotional core of the song. I try to do whatever it takes do bring out the song's soul and make a pleasant listening experience where each instrument has its function.

  3. Q: What's your typical work process?

  4. A: Like most mixers (I think) I upload the tracks into my template and go. I try to take frequent breaks but I like to finish it before I start to overthink it!

  5. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  6. A: I work on Pro Tools in my home studio, and I have a couple sets of great monitors including the Adam Audio T8V and love to work on my Neumann NDH 20 headphones. Just solid, quality equipment.

  7. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  8. A: My favorite mixing engineers are Chris Lord-Alge (I know, I know), Jim Scott, Rich Costey, Mark Linett, and David Hefti. I love indie and alternative and pop rock.

  9. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  10. A: Usually mixing work, sometimes mastering if clients are on a tight budget.
