Matthew Langdon on SoundBetter

Discover your unique sound and transform it into a masterpiece. Starting from scratch, voice notes, or refining a demo, I'll help you create a release-ready track. With years of experience as a recording assistant, mixing engineer, live sound engineer, and session drummer, I can elevate your music.

With over 15 years in music, I’m a Berkshire-based mixing engineer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist dedicated to helping artists achieve their best sound. My journey started at age 8 as a drummer, and over the years I’ve grown into a seasoned engineer with experience both in professional studios and my own home setup.
As a teacher of music and technology, I’ve developed a sharp ear for detail and a talent for understanding what a track needs to truly shine. That perspective carries through into every mix I create—balancing clarity, depth, and punch to deliver a professional, release-ready sound.

What I Offer:
Mixing: My main focus—radio-ready mixes that bring out the character of your track, highlighting every performance with precision and balance.

Production: From refining demos to full arrangements, I can help shape your ideas into polished songs.

Mastering: Adding the final polish so your music translates with impact across all platforms.

Live Drumming: As a drummer in various session bands, I also provide high-quality live drum recordings from my home studio.

Whether you’re after a clean, modern pop mix, a punchy rock sound, or something more experimental, I’ll work closely with you to bring your vision to life.
Let’s take your music to the next level.

My students were tasked with producing a song, and I wanted to have one of their tracks professionally mixed so they can hear the difference between their work and that of a professional. Matthew did a fantastic job and brought the song to life and shine. Thank you so much for your work.

We brought Matt in to tighten up the mix of our new EP and he couldn't have been more helpful. We were specifically looking for clarity and space between the instruments, as well as huge-sounding drums and professional-quality vocal production. He understood exactly what we were looking for and delivered a fantastic mix. He was professional and friendly and was more than happy to make tweaks and send back as many updated versions of the mix as we required. We'll be working with him again soon.

I use Yamaha HS8 studio monitors to complete the majority of my mixing as well as mastering and AKG K240 headphones for tracking and work that requires. As well as this I use a Nektar SE49 MIDI keyboard along with a wide variety of Native Instruments and Spitfire audio sound libraries for my composing. For guitars I use a PRS Custom 24 electric, a Tanglewood Electro-Acoustic and an Ibanez SR300E Bass.

  9. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  10. A: Most of my time I spend mixing which I love doing, taking a new song recently recorded and developing it into something exciting is such a great experience. I also regularly work on producing a piece of music from a demo into a fully working track. Re - recording parts in my home studio, tidying up tracks and mixing it into a polished piece of music and helping others to realise their musical ideas.
