Interview with Tom Huergo

  1. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  2. A: Sometimes I think people don't realize that I'm also a professional producer as well.

  3. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  4. A: Playing and being the musical director for Emilia has been one of the best jobs I've ever had. Not only do I share it with a beautiful group of people, but it has also allowed me to travel around the world and perform on incredible stages for tens of thousands of people.

  5. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  6. A: I'm touring worldwide with Argentinean Pop Star Emilia Mernes.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Both! The only consideration is that It's all about the speed of delivery these days, so digital takes the lead.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: You'll get what you expect.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Everything! Music has been my passion since I was a child. Having managed to build a career out of it makes me grateful for life.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: If I can drop down the price for a project. I usually do that for first time clients.

  15. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  16. A: What are you expecting from the guitars for this track? Is there any reference you have in mind?

  17. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  18. A: To have a clear vision of what they are looking for. A reference is wonderful so I could pin point the sound they are after.

  25. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  26. A: The Rolling Stones.

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: Don't "fix it in the mix". Music needs to sound amazing before and cosmetic work is done to it.

  29. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  30. A: Rock, Pop and everything in between.

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: My greatest virtue is my professionalism and commitment when it comes to working.

  33. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  34. A: y approach from the guitar is to seek to give the song what it needs to elevate the composition. Of course, I also aim to give it a radio-friendly and commercial aspect. But always prioritizing the artistic concept.

  35. Q: What's your typical work process?

  36. A: I first discuss the genre and what you are looking for from the guitar portion. When possible, I encourage my clients to provide a reference to the type of style and sound desired. Depending on your preference, I can record a single guitar track or multiple guitar tracks to produce a richer sound or stereo sound. Tracks are then recorded remotely and sent directly to the client.

I use microphones such as,AKGC414, Royer 121 and Shure sm57 and I always use the best high performance cables.
