Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: TBA :)
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. Analog does things the digital domain tries to recreate and vice versa. Eventually the two will be even but until then analog still holds king.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Prepare to be "impressed"
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The creative process.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: It can be done in an hour or less! Mixing takes time and requires the engineer to be sensitive to every tone and space. Integrity first and foremost.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What are your potential goals of the record? What feelings are you trying to convey?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Expect the best!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Manley Massive Passive (Hardware), Distressors (Hardware), MPC X, and a pair of Barefoot Audio MM27's
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been in the field for 15 yrs., never thought I'd honestly be doing music for a living. I wouldn't change it for the world!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Big Bottom with a curvy top.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Drake. He's king in the jungle as of the moment
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Cut>Boosting
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: All types ranging from EDM, Hip-Hop, to Rock
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Production/ Mixing
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Character and feeling. Records without a feeling don't have a soul.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My mixing process starts with the vocals & from there I move on to drum stemming. From there, I adjust the remaining instruments in a cohesive fashion to blend with the surrounding canvas.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: At Oscillation Studios, we're running a hybrid digital to analog setup with an SSL AWS Console at its center of distribution. 32 Channels of I/O with an Apogee Symphony MKII as the studios interface. We own a variety of hardware equalizers, compressors, and vintage preamps to add tone and clarity to given projects.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Dr. Dre and the lists goes on. Constantly being inspired by new & old.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Production/ Mixing Services.
