I’ve had the privilege of working with artists like Valérie Carpentier, Yves Corbeil, SHAH FRANK, Sam Faye, Xela Edna, and more. My solo projects have been featured on Sirius XM, TVA, and in various national media outlets.
I specialize in:
🎙 French-language songwriting & toplines
🎼 Cinematic compositions & arrangements
🎸 Session guitar (acoustic & electric)
🎹 Production from demo to final master
I play guitar, piano, bass, and sing, which allows me to build full arrangements with depth and emotion. I work in Logic Pro, RX, Kontakt and various pro plugins, and I focus on musicality, storytelling, and clarity in every session I deliver.

Chaque fois que Edouard m'apporte une chanson pour mixer, j'ai l'impression qu'il élève son niveau de production et c'est pour moi un plaisir d'amener ses chansons à leur plein potentiel.

Working with Edouard has been a pleasure. Communication with him was really easy and he responded quickly. His expectations were set from the begining so it was easier for me to understand and meet his needs. His song is very good and well done so it made the experience even more pleasant.
Interview with Edouard M.C
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: My solo albums — I’m proud of them because I wrote, arranged, produced, sang and played nearly every instrument (except drums). They represent my full creative identity and have reached audiences through radio and media across Quebec.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I’m working on my next solo album, producing new material with Valérie Carpentier, and composing music for visual media projects.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes — Raynald Brochu for mixing and mastering. He’s incredibly musical, detailed and delivers radio-ready sound.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital — for the flexibility, recall and creative freedom it offers. But I always strive to preserve that analog warmth and authenticity in every track I produce.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To bring care, creativity and musical depth to every project. I don’t do templates. I listen, adapt, and create something that feels true to you.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Helping someone hear their song come to life exactly how they imagined it — or better. That moment of “yes, that’s it!” is priceless.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: They often ask: “Can you make my idea sound more professional?” My answer: Absolutely — whether it’s through clean guitars, arrangement, topline help or full production. I’m here to elevate your vision.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That arranging or producing is just about adding instruments. In truth, it’s about structure, contrast, dynamics and knowing when not to play — it’s the architecture of the song.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What emotion do you want this song to express? Who or what is it for? Do you already have references or artists that inspire the sound you're aiming for?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Don’t be afraid to share your vision, even if it’s not fully formed. I’m here to help you shape it — with empathy, skill, and a collaborative spirit. The more honest you are, the more magic we can make together.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Fender Telecaster Apollo Twin Lewitt LCT 940 MacBook with Logic Pro X A solar-powered external hard drive
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I studied jazz and pop guitar at Vincent d’Indy and UQAM, followed by a postgraduate diploma in film scoring. I’ve been recording, composing and producing professionally for over 5 years, working with established artists while developing my own solo career.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Warm, melodic and cinematic. My style blends singer-songwriter intimacy with rich arrangements and emotional storytelling — always serving the artist’s voice and vision.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Jean Leloup or Daniel Bélanger — because they represent the perfect balance of poetry, originality and sonic identity in francophone music. I’d love to bring my arranging and guitar skills into their world.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always start with the emotion/vibe. Technical perfection comes second to delivering a performance or arrangement that feels alive and meaningful — especially in vocals and lead instruments.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Mostly pop, rock, and French-language chanson, but I also work in folk, indie, cinematic, and crossover genres depending on the artist’s universe.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: A tie between my versatile guitar playing and my composing/arranging expertise. I know how to elevate a track musically, whether it needs a subtle texture or a bold instrumental hook.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Originality through versatility. I’ve played and composed in a wide range of genres — pop, rock, country, rap, metal, jazz, bossa nova, kompa and more — which allows me to draw from diverse musical worlds. With a background in guitar performance and film scoring, I bring both depth and cinematic color to a track, whether it’s through intricate guitar work, orchestration, or emotional contour.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start with deep, active listening to understand the emotion and intention of the song. I usually sketch ideas mentally first, then translate them on guitar or piano. Once I find a strong foundation, I experiment with sound textures and gradually build the full arrangement from there — always serving the story and vibe of the piece.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I record in a professionally treated and isolated studio. For vocals and acoustic instruments, I use the Lewitt LCT 940, and for electric guitars, I use a Sennheiser e906 on amp. My interface is a UAD Apollo X8, running Logic Pro X with Komplete 13, Slate Digital, and other industry-standard plugins. I play a Fender Telecaster, Stratocaster, classical, acoustic, 12-string guitar, mandolin and bass — all recorded in high fidelity.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I’m inspired by French and Quebecois artists like Jean Leloup, Daniel Bélanger, Joe Dassin, Serge Gainsbourg and Renaud. I also admire pop producers like RedOne and KOZ for their catchy and big production style. As a guitarist, I’ve been shaped by players like Nuno Bettencourt, Slash, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page and Julian Lage.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I work with producers looking to elevate their songs with high-quality guitar parts, full arrangements and orchestration. I also collaborate with songwriters who need help finishing their lyrics or melodies, and with companies needing original music for advertising or audiovisual projects.
