Marco Sebastian Christ on SoundBetter

I produce Alternative Ohwurms! If you are looking for an unique sound that doesn't fit into any genre, then you have come to the right place ...

For over twenty years, I have produced, mixed, and mastered music and accompanied artists as needed to realise their musical ideas, from the first demo to the finished song or album. I support musicians in Dresden, Germany, where I live, but I also work for artists from Europe and North America.

Interview with Marco Sebastian Christ

  1. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  2. A: Be brave and make decisions.

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Both. Because it's not about which of the two sounds better, but rather which sound is more suitable in the specific case.

  5. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  6. A: I started making music in the late 90s. Through playing in various bands, I gradually acquired knowledge in recording and music production, and later also mastering, which I was then able to offer to other musicians from a certain point onwards. I have been offering my services professionally for about 15 years.

  7. Q: How would you describe your style?

  8. A: My style is Alternative Ohrwurm!

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: Basically, I'm open to all kinds of music. I have an understanding of many different genres. I'm very familiar with electronic music, but also with live, recorded music. Classic band lineups, singer-songwriters, etc. I am good at weaving both worlds together.

  11. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  12. A: I'm good at listening to the music, but also to the musicians. I try to do justice to the song and its concept while also incorporating the musicians' ideas. I always offer my own perspective for discussion so that it can be heard. I work carefully, but with a clear focus and within a reasonable timeframe.

  13. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  14. A: Whether it's production, mixing, or mastering – for me, the underlying idea is always paramount in a song. I want to bring that out in the best possible way, both sonically and musically.

  15. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  16. A: I work with Ableton Live 12 Suite. For about 20 years now, I have been listening to Event 20/20 bas monitors. My AD/DA Converter/interface is from RME. For audio restoration, I use RX 11 Standard. For mixing and mastering I rely on many professional plugin brands such as DMG Audio, Tokyo Dawn Labs, Noiseworks, Kush Audio, Make Believe Studios, Kazrog, SIR Audio to just name a few. For music production and remixing, I draw on a library of countless plugins (VST, Max for Live) that I've been collecting for over 20 years. This ranges from commercial to free tools from unknown developers. I'm always curious about new devices and check daily for the latest releases. And for my productions, this means that the risk of sounding repetitive decreases.

  17. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  18. A: I accompany artists as needed to realise their musical ideas, from the first demo to the finished song or album. From creative music production and mixing to mastering. In addition, I regularly do remixes.

  • I worked again for Cinnabar Club!Jul 12, 2026

I helped produce and mix Cinnabar Club's new EP called "Alberich" which just came out on djummi records. We created some uncommon Electro Pop here, I'd say.

Two releases I contributed to last year won Wisconsin Area Music Industry Awards
in various categories. Dave Schoepke's album "Sun Will Follow," for
which I pre-mastered, was picked for "Best World, Unique Album". The
track "The Quiet Quiet" from felsteg's album "Hold", for which I
mastered, was chosen for "Best Latin, World, Unique, Spoken Word Song".

  • blarg - Cologne Flashback [live album]Apr 29, 2025

I mixed and mastered Blarg's latest release, a 6-track live album called Cologne Flashback based on recordings of a concert they played in Cologne a while ago. It was captured with five drum mics, two vocal mics and bass and guitar line signals. It was great fun to shape the sounds and carve out the vibe ...

  • suralarm - train of thoughtApr 21, 2025

Please check out the EP train of thought by suralarm, which was published recently on djummi records. Four tracks somewhere between Krautrock, Ambient, Post-Rock, and Indie. I was responsible for the production, the mixing and the mastering.
