Interview with Adam Franklin

Q: What's your typical work process?
A: When it comes to songwriting and vocal work, I start by starting a voice memo recording on my phone and playing the instrumental. Immediately, melodies and lyrical concepts will kind of just spill out as I get a hold of the vibe of the song. I do that as long as it takes to come across something that gets me really excited. From there it's a lot of melody tweaking and lyric tweaking. I like sending drafts to the client through the whole process so I can get feedback and figure out if I'm going in the right direction or not.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work with a pretty minimal setup that works great for me. The gear I most commonly am working with looks as follows: - 2016 MacBook Pro - UAD Apollo Twin Duo - Focal CMS 50 Moniters - Avantone MixCube - Ableton Live - Logic Pro X - Melodyne - Manley Reference Cardioid Tube Condenser Mic - Oxygen61 MIDI controller - AKAI MPK Mini - Sennheiser HD 650 Headphones - Sony MDR 7506 Headphones
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm super inspired by Max Martin when it comes to song writing and vocal production. Right now I'm also very inspired by a lot of electronic pop producers and artists like Louis Futon, Lauv, Kasbo, etc.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work I do on SoundBetter is definitely work as a songwriter/vocalist. However, locally I mainly do production/mixing work for artists.
