Interview with Martin Bråten
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm working on a lot of different songs for my personal projects!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital! I know many people love analog for it's warm characteristics, but digital is just more easy.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To make your track as good as I possibly can!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Being able to do what I love the most everyday!
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be clear about what you need, and make it as detailed as you can. This is for just one good reason, and that is to make your request as good as possible!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Beers and hammock!... and maybe my computer, audio interface and guitar
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started playing guitar in my classroom when I was 11. My teacher teached me "Smoke On The Water", and rest is history. I've been playing guitar for 15 years, and produced for 11. I started producing music on my school computer, and it really got to me. Been a fun hobby for a long time, and now full time job!
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: There is many artists I would like to work with, but if I could pick two it would maybe be Post Malone and David Guetta, as they seem like very cool dudes!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: If it sounds good, it is good! And don't be afraid to trust your own ears, but also lend some others for feedback.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on house music in many colour and shapes.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skills is producing and guitar playing. And that I'm very experienced with many different genres!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I've got a studio together with my partner Christopher. We have one powerful stationary computer with an audio interface called Audient ID22. Our studio monitors is Yamaha HS8. Then we of course use a lot of digitals VST's and DAW.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm very inspired by a lot of different artists and genres! I get easily inspired by music that makes me feels something, whether it's sad, happy or badass!
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I've used Soundbetter for a long time as a client, but I'm pretty new as a provider. But I've got some requests for playing electric guitar on my clients tracks!
