Daniel Woodfield

Cornish Composer & Producer

Daniel Woodfield on SoundBetter

I’m a composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist drawing on Cornwall’s rich heritage to create fresh, distinctive sounds. My work blends folk traditions, contemporary composition, and electronic textures, offering innovative arrangements that honour the past while shaping music for today’s audiences and projects.

I am a composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist whose work is grounded in Cornwall’s rich musical heritage and shaped by a passion for innovation. My creative practice bridges traditional folk, contemporary composition, and electronic music, producing fresh, distinctive sounds that honour the past while moving confidently into the future.

As a saxophonist and arranger, I have performed across three continents at festivals and cultural events, from the Manhattan and London Jazz Festivals to heritage celebrations in Cornwall. These experiences have given me the versatility to compose and produce across genres, while maintaining a strong identity rooted in place.

Alongside performance, I direct the Cornwall Youth Folk Ensemble and lead projects that connect communities through music, introducing Cornish traditions to new generations. My PhD research with SOAS and Lowender CIO explores Cornish music as “living heritage,” and this informs every composition, recording, and collaboration I undertake.

Whether you’re seeking evocative scores, dynamic arrangements, or innovative production that draws on heritage and experimentation, I bring technical expertise, creative imagination, and a collaborative spirit to every project.
