I am so so grateful for Vic! He put so much effort into my song. He took it to a whole new level, and he always made sure my notes and concerns were taken care of. I’m a newbie producer and not familiar with a lot of the technical terms of mixing/mastering, but Vic made the entire process easy to understand as well as enjoyable! THANK YOU SO MUCH VIC!

Interview with Vic Cuccia
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'm really proud of what I achieved on Malu Trevejo's record "Como Tu Me Quieres". It was a highly challenging mix, and on top of that I ended up Mastering the record as well which is definitely an added responsibility given I had already mixed it. Turned out amazing tho.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Currently working on an upcoming Sofia Reyes record; Malu Trevejo record; a few House Tracks with my friend Jaykø, amongst other projects.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. I can ensure the same high quality standard being in a hotel room or in my own studio because I'm not relying on a console or anything huge that breaks more often than not and stops my workflow, instead I know my gear really well and can deliver every time. The top records nowadays are made fully in the box.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love SOUNDS and music, so either if I'm mixing or producing I'm immersed in it, and improving that sound. There's nothing more rewarding to me than this.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Everybody's a producer/mixer.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: - How many songs are you looking to do? Depending on the quantity I can negotiate a better price! - Could you send me a few reference tracks so I know the sound you're going for?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Look to hire people that will be invested in your art, as opposed to people that are just trying to make money off of you. I only take on projects that I can and want to be invested in.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been doing this professionally for about 2-3 years now, yet been shadowing and interning with talented mentors for about 5-6.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Attitude, yet clear and detailed.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Focus on the idea. Spend as much time as needed making sure the idea is as simple and as effective as possible, yet still memorable and unique; the song will then write itself.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, Latin/Pop, House Music & Hiphop/Trap.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Attention to detail; depth.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I turn it into a record. I enjoy making songs sound "larger than life", and making the chorus hit you "in your face".
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I understand the importance of incubation and staying fresh, so I structure my work process in separate stages where I keep myself operating at an optimum level throughout the session, therefore delivering the highest quality record.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: iMac, Apollo Twin MkII, Universal Audio, Adam A7x's, Sennheiser HD650s, Pro Tools, Ableton Live
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Pharrell Williams; Skrillex; John Petrucci; Manny Marroquin;
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That I'll bring up the quality in their projects.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: "Can you make it sound like "this" record?" Yes.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Macbook Pro, Apollo Twin MkII, Sennheiser HD 650 headphones.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Pharrell/Skrillex. I admire how they work with everything that involves music, from sound design to orchestras to electronic/pop music. That's what I want to do.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Help take their music/idea to the next level, that being production and/or mixing.
