SEVA OMAR on SoundBetter

A dynamic Singer, songwriter and producer who will bring your stories to life through beautiful melodies, catchy lyrics and vocals in multiple genres and languages!

I have a deep love for music and have been writing and recording songs for over a decade. I am versatile in songwriting and have published music in the genres of Pop, Electronic EDM, cinematic movie soundtracks, and acoustic styles. Aside from English, I also sing in Kurdish, Arabic and Spanish.

The song featured on my page called "The One" was both written and produced by me. This is also the song that I got casted on American Idol for where I received the golden ticket and 3 yeses from celebrity judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan. Getting 3 yeses from highly respected musicians on an original song I wrote gave me a lot of confidence that I'm on the right path.

I have written, arranged and published original music that has been featured on Americas Got Talent, HBO, WUSA Channel 9, WJLA Channel 7, Geico, just to name a few.

I have a home studio setup where I record and comp my own vocals through Logic Pro X and Protools. I also love comping/vocal producing/arranging other peoples vocals.

Where do I start with this amazing girl?! I have known her for many many years and even back in middle school she had this voice—so I knew she would be here today. Her voice is so unique and different. She’s able to easily put a sassy twist to any song. Yet she’s able to bring out the beauty in any song at the same time. I love listening to her and so excited to see the bright road that lays ahead of her. Listen to her songs and you’ll see exactly what I’m talkig about :)

I have been listening to Seva longer than anyone probably. Her unique and subtle voice is more like a comfort zone for me. Her talents should go unnoticed as she fuses old and new school together with different genres of music from all over the world. She is definitely not your typical mainstream artist. She is one of kind that, I promise, will sure knock you off your feet.

Seva is one of the most hard-working, talented, beautiful, dedicated, and passionate female singer songwriters I've ever had the blessing to work with. I've done around 1,000 recording sessions in the last 15 years and I mean it when I say that this girl is an amazing partner to work with in the studio. She writes hooks, lyrics, and melodies without effort. Keep an eye on this one!

Interview with SEVA OMAR

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: The project I am most proud of is my collaboration with mega talented producer Gyom Amphoux of M-Rose Productions. I wrote and recorded vocals for a song he produced that placed on Americas Got Talent and HBO! Totally a dream come true!

  3. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  4. A: Lately, I've been working on pop, electronic and soul records.

  5. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  6. A: I bring versatility to a song. I come from a multicultural background, and the first type of music I heard was Arabic and Kurdish which is my influence. I also like to cater to what the song needs. I am able to get vocally soft and intimate yet I can turn it up and get super powerhouse if the song requires it. Depending on the song, I switch it up with volume, texture, vibrato and style. Also, the genre helps me see what I need to incorporate.

  7. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  8. A: I am currently writing a song for my upcoming EP.

  9. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  10. A: I honestly love both! Depending on what I am working on.

  11. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  12. A: That I will make sure you leave satisfied and happy with my work.

  13. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  14. A: Hearing all these awesome new songs and meeting all these wonderful musicians. I am just touching the surface in this industry and I'm so happy for a platform like SoundBetter to bring us all close together.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: People look at me and they put me in a box, but I'm more than that! lol I am very playful and love exploring all aspects of music and life. I never limit myself to anything.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: That would depend on what information they have already provided me with.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: I love hearing as much detail about the clients needs! The more, the better. I want to make sure I give them exactly what they came for, and more!

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Computer, microphone, interface, headphones, and guitar!

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: By day I am a songwriter, vocal producer and by night I am a gigging musician. I have been a professional musician for the past 3 years, but I've always done music on the side. Now I do it full time, and I'm really grateful!

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: I am versatile. I can sound folk, soul, funk, electronic, r&b, or pop. But at the core of it all, I give it my soul.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would LOVE to work with Charlie Puth and Bebe Rexha

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Don't overcrowd the instruments and drown the beauty of each sound. Its okay to keep it simple, highlight an instrument and let the song breathe!!!

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: My strongest skill is songwriting and recording vocals. I love it so much that I put my heart and soul into it, every time.

  33. Q: What's your typical work process?

  34. A: If I am songwriting, I like to freestyle write. I play the music and press record on my vocals. Some of my best songs have been freestyle types, and then I go and put the puzzle pieces together. If I am just recording a fully written song, I study the song first. I explore the vocal range and see what else I can add to make it the BEST it could be. If it needs harmonies, I'm pretty good at that and I LOVE stacking those. Then I record a BUNCH of times, over and over again until I have the perfect takes. Sometimes I get lucky and sing it straight through, other times I comp. At my studio they call me the Comp Queen lol

  35. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  36. A: I run my recordings on either Protools 11 or Logic Pro X with an AKG condenser microphone through a Scarlett interface. I have a Komplete Kontrol midi keyboard. For plugins, I have the Waves Bundle Diamond, Melodyne and Native Instruments. I play a Taylor Mini GS that is acoustic/electric and can be directly plugged into my interface.

  37. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  38. A: I came across Charlie Puth's interviews the other day, and I was really impressed by his versatility and ability to write, record, produce and mix all his music. I strive to be diverse in my musical creativity as well!

  39. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  40. A: The most common type of work I do varies from songwriting, writing harmonies, to recording covers or demos.
