My name is Ara, I'm an artist and songwriter specialising in acoustic pop and folk music.
I combine my timeless acoustic folk influences with sharp pop sensibilities to write authentic and unforgettable music. With strong hooks, heartfelt lyrics and unique memorable guitar sections.

One of my greatest strength is helping an artist tell their story, capturing what is unique about them in both the music and the lyrics. I also excel at improving demo’s and taking them to the next level, as I am very comfortable with iteration. Finally as a teacher at heart and a rising artist myself I love to help develop artists and help them to navigate all aspects of creating music, such as producing, recording, performing, marketing ...

Interview with Ara

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: It is not done until you are 100% happy. I have been on the other side many times, and as artists we deserve to work with someone who truly cares about your vision and can bring out the best out of both the song and the artist. Also I will share my process and everything I have learned with you, to not just give you a product but hopefully help you develop as an artist as well!
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: When songwriting I typically ask the artist to share as much as possible, the story behind the song, their vision as an artist, any lyric ideas or journal entires they have, and for any reference songs they have . From there we start exploring until we stumble on a guitar idea or vocal melody that is unforgettable. The rest usually comes quite easy and is the most fun :)
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: For vocals I typically record with a U87 into BAE DMP into Apollo Twin, in a treated room. For guitar I have a variety of mics that I use for stereo configuration.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: My debut EP 'From Embers' and co-writing two albums for two of my favourite artists
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Helping artists capture their vision and story I spend years trying to achieve this for myself, so when I can help others with this it is both beautiful and rewarding.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Martin 00028 A capo ;) Neumann U87 Apollo Twin Macbook Pro and a notebook ...
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Timeless. Memorable. Nostalgic.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop / Singer-Songwriter / Folk / Cinematic
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Songwriting Capturing the essence of the artist and the message in the song, my writing usually goes much deeper than the average songwriter.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I am usually capable of finding the purest way to capture a song or idea, by finding unforgettable melodies and matching them with lyrics that really evoke something in both the singer and the listener. I also write guitar parts that serve as a hook all to themselves. I think those 3 elements are the cornerstone of my writing and I believe that a song should be able to blow people away even when performed acoustically.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Helping artists turn a concept or rough idea into a full song, ready to be performed or produced, Typically I will write with the artist on guitar, exploring and providing chords, arrangement, melodies and lyrics. When the song is done, I usually will also record guitar
