Hey, I'm Marcus - a Swedish-American composer and multi-instrumentalist based between Stockholm, London, and LA. I am stylistically versatile, creating anything from pop and r&b to experimental electronic music. I have worked with many critically acclaimed artists such as Camila Cabello, Demi Lovato, Swae Lee, Tory Lanez, Iggy Azalea & Kid Ink.
I began my career in film music in LA, working as an intern for music supervisor and composer Brian Reitzell (The Virgin Suicides, Lost in Translation, Marie Antoinette, The Bling Ring), and then a musical assistant to director Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight, Lords of Dogtown, 13), helping her plan and realise the sonic worlds of various projects. During my collaboration with Hardwicke, I worked with musical legends like songwriter Diane Warren and producer Nick Launay (Nick Cave, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arcade Fire, Gang of Four). After relocating to Sweden, I was awarded a composition fellowship and focused primarily on developing my craft as a songwriter, writing songs for artists like Kid Ink, SOPHIE, Camilla Cabello, Swae Lee, Tory Lanez, Demi Lovato, Wiz Khalifa, Xtina Aguilera, Iggy Azalea, Icona Pop, Astrid S, ASHNIKKO, Shy Martin, bulow, etc.
Services I can provide include
- Full production, starting a track from scratch
- Additional production and mixing
- Vocal comping and tuning
- Guitar and piano
- Top lining (writing a melody and lyric for a track you already have)

Had such a great experience and I LOVE the final product. Will definitely work with him again.
I love what Marcus did with my song. He has a great ear and really amazing creative ideas. He’s also very responsive and I liked getting updates about the direction he was taking with the song during his workflow. I would highly recommend and look forward to working with again!
Truly one of the best producer experiences I've had! Not only does Marcus have incredible skill and vision but he's patient and put a lot thought and care into my project. He exceeded my expectations for this song and I'm beyond grateful to have found him. I highly recommend him despite the fact that I don't want to share him :P
I have done several songs with Angelsson and they have all been amazing but on this song he took his production and performance into the stratosphere - it is beyond my imagination what he did with this song !! I wish everyone of you could hear it. Angelsson is some kind of special producer and performer and I am so happy that I connected with him. i am looking forward to many, many more !!!
Always a pleasure! Super professional and flexible. Highly recommend.
Angelsson is a really talented guy - he has done some amazing work for me.
We worked long distance -- not easy. But Angelsson always responded to any requests about additions/revisions to the mixes. He was professional, focused and technically detailed in his production of this EDM track.
Awesome to work with! Super professional and he really grasped the vibe and feel of what I was going for. Already starting on our next project. Would highly reccommend!
Angelsson did an amazing job with my song. He took it to a whole new level and worked with me through the whole process so I understood and agreed with his approach. The result was way beyond what I thought was possible for this song - just incredible. This is the second great song we have done together and I will definitely do more.
Amazing person and great profissional!
Great work with the guitar and I am very grateful with the good communication... the work with the track will of course continue with his help!! Highly recomended!
My new favorite guitarist on soundbetter, always quick to respond and his quality and creativity is 10/10.
Another great collab with Angelsson! Such a talent and v. professional. Highly recommend and will work with him again.
Marcus is a very talented musician and producer. He instantly understood what I wanted my song to sound like and turned it into the track I had envisioned it to be. Communication was super easy and professional. Would very much recommend & work with him again.
Ängelsson did an incredible job with this song - very inventive and yet very true to the R&B roots of the style. The performances and arrangement are perfect. I couldn't be happier with his work and will definitely use him again.
Interview with Ängelsson
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Dark, left-of-center pop, sad trap, or urban pop.. those are my favorites. I've done plenty of EDM tracks and more straightforward pop as well.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Compose with music videos or films in the background.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Ableton --> Logic
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mainly production, but I'm also brought in a lot on lyric/concept work as well as song arrangement.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Developing artists, pitching songs, composing for TV/Film
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital - more control. Analog on vocals if the gear is at a high enough standard. Also analog for sound coloring if the track demands it.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Finding new moods everyday - it's like one of those video game world maps that gets revealed as you wander.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Clear communication, fun, flexibility, and a high quality song. I want the process to be inspiring and enjoyable for the client -- and I want the end result to be as close to their vision as possible!
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Swae Lee because his melodic sense is so unique - love his timing in "Unforgettable" and the vibe of the chorus on "Sunflower." Second place would be Lorde, because she's incredibly poppy but also dark/experimental.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Production needs to put you in a world. If there's no defined mood in the instrumental, it's not going to make the listener feel anything, so I focus on creating a distinct emotion in the track. Also, I keep the music contained to the necessary elements -- I don't like when a track gets cluttered!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Max Martin, SOPHIE, Lil Peep, Travis Scott, Miley Cyrus, Mark Ronson, Lorde, Kim Petras, M83, Sigur Ros, Nirvana
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Myah Marie! Incredible writer and vocalist.
