Sinclair Productions

Music Producer & Violinist

Multi-instrumentalist producer with a track record spanning several genres. Adaptable and quick; the goal is to find your style, not just purchase a beat. Film and Game composition are also my strong suit - full orchestral string arrangements come as part of the package. Listen to WHOLE reel for a range of genres.

John is a producer/violinist/pianist with years of experience, touring and featuring with artists such as Macklemore, Ryan Lewis, Raz Simone and Sam Lachow. His own, self-produced artist project 'Saint Claire' has over 9,000,000 cumulative streams on Spotify alone. A Seattle transplant now based in LA, he runs a studio in Hollywood. In addition to his experience in production, John is also an extremely proficient violinist, specializing in Pop and Hip-Hop. This lets him weave string arrangements through intricate production, whether as a part of a contemporary pop piece or as the backdrop to a movie scene.

Interview with Sinclair Productions

  1. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  2. A: Sia - that's my dream session.

  3. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  4. A: Be flexible - don't get caught making 'your type' of beat to a song that should belong to the artist. Learning to create in the style of the artist you're working with is the secret sauce.

  5. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  6. A: Most often I'm working on Film, Game and Electric Pop music. Although I also do a heavy amount of string work and folk production/piano playing.

  7. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  8. A: Either producing or violin.

  9. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  10. A: I bring a unique, original flavor - as well as powerful string arrangements. I like to make sure each song has a unique identity by the end of the process.

  11. Q: What's your typical work process?

  12. A: I usually begin with real instruments - piano, violin, voice - and then add elements and shape sounds around a strong core of authentic writing. Then I polish the composition and give it the unique flairs and details that make it stand out. Getting the track from 90% to 100% usually takes the longest, but is the most gratifying.

  13. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  14. A: I have a studio in Hollywood, complete with all the outboard gear and equipment necessary for simple, rich recordings (especially vocals and strings).

  15. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  16. A: Jon Bellion is a huge inspiration for production. Although I find inspiration almost every time I hear a new song.

  17. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  18. A: Most commonly I find myself producing bodies of work or arranging and recording strings for clients.
