I'll play any part you need on tenor or soprano sax, whether it's a flowing melody, a ripping solo, or multiple harmonies throughout an entire song.

All this dude needs is one try :)
Cameron is an amazingly talented saxophone player and overall musician. He is great at both writing original parts as well as taking direction for parts. He has an incredible ear for music and is able to work very quickly at the highest level of quality in playing, tonality, writing, recording, and overall performance. He also can play a vast variety of different genres and styles. On top of all of this, he is very easy to work with and overall very cool and easygoing guy. I highly recommend to anybody looking for saxophone on their tracks!
Cameron has the best tone and phrasing as a saxophonist I’ve ever heard. He’s extremely sharp, affable, and easy to work with. Highly recommended!
Cameron played Sax on my upcoming album, and he also performed live with me! Although I personally botched our performance, his intuition and recovery saved the day! His thoughtful melodies are unique and eclectic like him, and truly he is brilliant in musicianship. On stage, he is magnetic and steals the show. His caliber of talent and ingenuity are unparalleled, and he is as trustworthy as he is productive. Cameron Black is the real deal!
Cameron has always been a pleasure to work with. He is a very kind, understanding, and down to earth human being. Not only does he demonstrate exceptional musical and stylistic competence, but he can also be called upon to get wild and think outside of the box if that's what you need him to do. I would absolutely recommend him for live performance or studio work.
Interview with Cameron Black
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is a blend of rock, funk, and bossa nova style jazz. Since saxophone spans such a wide variety of genres, my influences as a teenager were all over the place, but my idols included Sam Butera, Sonny Rollins, and Stan Getz. I'd like to think my sound is a mixture between all three.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't be afraid to overshare references or ask for revisions! I love playing and part of working together online means communicating exactly what you're looking for.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work with any genre, but I've mainly been seeing rock/electronic/funk sax making a resurgence. I love playing on any song, especially, rock, bossa nova, or blues-oriented.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My ability to communicate, both musically and verbally. I want to know exactly what you're looking for, and I can adapt very well to a song's particular "voice" and convey emotion very well with the instrument.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring nearly two decades of experience, including performing on hundreds of tracks and stages across the US and abroad. With that experience comes the more important skill of knowing exactly when to, and when not to, play. The saxophone is a unique instrument, and knowing just how to use it in the right way can make or break a song.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Typically, I receive a track from a client who will explain what's missing (a horn melody, a solo, etc.). Sometimes people will include a reference as far as the attitude or emotion they'd like me to convey, and if that is included I will listen to that after listening to their track. Once I understand what the client is looking for, I'll play multiple takes in my studio, then send to the client for confirmation. If they want something tweaked, I offer unlimited revisions until they are happy.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I'm currently using Logic Pro and recording through an Apogee Duet. I use a clip-on sax mic and play on an alto and tenor saxophone, both Eastman 52nd St. models.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I love the classic hidden multi-instrumentalists, especially when it comes to saxophone. Curtis Mayfield is one of my biggest influences as far as sound, and Scott Hansen (Tycho) is a modern-day influence as far as workflow and feel.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I play alto or tenor saxophone on tracks spanning any and every genre. Whether it's a solo, a melody, or harmonies throughout a song, I work with artists to bring live sax to their tracks.
