Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I always work with the artist to incorporate their own life into the music. Whether it's through their musical influences, current life circumstances, or just however they're feeling that day -- I love to work on a personal level.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Flume is a huge inspiration for me. He's not afraid to be experimental with his music but is always able to make it catchy and accessible. His ability to craft beautiful instrumentals to bring out the best in vocalists never ceases to amaze me.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I love making music from scratch for clients. Usually a vocalist will reach out to me with lyrics and a melody. Then, I can help them flesh out their ideas while I create a sonic world for them to explore.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Most times I talk to the artists to hear what music they're currently listening to and inspired by. This helps me get a sense of their taste and sonic palette.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work out of my studio in Brentwood, Los Angeles, California, right near Santa Monica. I've got M-Audio BX8a monitors, a MacBook Pro, Komplete Kontrol S88 keyboard, Korg Minilogue synthesizer, Akai MPD218 drum controller, Shure SM57 microphone, and too many plugins to name. And oh yeah: I've got a studio plant.
