I’m João Miguel – music producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist, founder of Razante Studio and co-creator of the acclaimed electronic act The Twelves.

Interview with Razante Studio
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I’m proud of my work with The Twelves, creating remixes for artists like Daft Punk and Kylie Minogue, which taught me how to reimagine music while keeping its essence. I’m also proud of composing and producing original music for films and series, collaborating closely with directors and producers to create scores and soundscapes that enhance the story and atmosphere.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. Analog brings warmth and organic imperfection; digital offers flexibility and speed. I combine the two to get the best of both worlds.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Professionalism, originality and commitment. I’ll make sure the music not only works technically but also elevates the emotional impact of the project.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Electronic, indie/alternative, cinematic, ambient, pop and experimental, always applied to audiovisual projects (film, TV, ads, games).
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Translating abstract creative ideas into concrete music and sound. I’m experienced at adapting quickly to different genres while keeping a unique sonic fingerprint.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Emotional depth, originality and texture. My music tends to carry warmth, atmosphere and storytelling qualities, always tailored to the picture or narrative.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: For film/TV/game projects, I first align with the director or producer about mood, references and narrative needs. Then I sketch themes or atmospheres and refine them in close collaboration until we reach something unique. For ads, I usually present a few strong options quickly, keeping in mind timing, brand identity and impact.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I compose and produce original music for films, series, ads and games. Depending on the project, I also create remixes or rebuild tracks from scratch, keeping only vocals or key elements. I often combine composition with sound design and SFX to deliver a complete sonic identity.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Every project brings a new story and a new challenge. I love collaborating with directors, producers and creatives to turn visuals and concepts into music that feels alive and memorable.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I really like to know the reasons behind the demands.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: That they can expect professionalism, commitment and that I can remake what they ask for until everyone is 100% satisfied.
