Classically-trained musician. Self-styled composer, songwriter, and storyteller. Based in California. Living to weave my sounds with all types of media.
As a composer and songwriter, my intention is to seek out new inspiration and sensibilities. I learned music on the piano as a child -- studying Chopin by rote, practicing “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain” by ear. I expanded to jazz and symphonic music after picking up the saxophone against my better judgment.
In the early 2000s, I co-founded the independent band Lime Colony in the San Francisco Bay Area. The band added autodidactic layers to my early foundation of formal study and practice.

Interview with Tim Garcia
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First I listen to my customer/colleague, review existing material for the project, ask for 3-5 unique words/actions/emotions they use to describe their project, and I ask for 1-3 existing tracks they love which evoke the project... Then comes some combination of: humming to myself, recording myself humming into my phone, testing tunes on my piano and recording that, recording myself playing/humming variations, thinking about what instruments and other types of sounds will make everything fit just right for the project, keying my tune into my Digital Audio Workstation... Then I build as quickly as I can, until I produce an early draft and receive feedback from the customer. If anything needs adjustment, we look to the first few steps in the process, I listen to all feedback, and I reconfigure. Otherwise, I move on expanding the work where necessary before polishing every detail and sharing the final draft.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Composing original scores and/or writing songs for film/video projects.
