Los Angeles based LGBTQ+ artists Brandon Carter and Cody Williams’ met by chance on the internet in mid-2017. It was instantly a simpatico connection. Both inspired from a young age by iconic male pop icons such as Freddie Mercury & David Bowie, bb blue’s goal is to humbly carry on the legacy of these innovative artists and push the boundaries of gender, fashion, and pop music itself. Inspired by a vast array of influences from Smashing Pumpkins to Prince, their music blurs the lines of genres creating a universe that is nostalgic yet futuristic and uniquely “bb blue”.

Cody's work was totally phenomenal!! He produced a couple of my recent tracks and was really able to bring out all the great aspects that are so pleasing to the ear. Amazing, extra cherry on top melodies and great added drum layers! Thanks for the incredible tracks can't wait to collaborate on new ones.

Cody delivered a true work of art and something I’m proud to release. He has an amazing ear for melody and the right lyrics that compliment it. Quick turnaround time and overall a pleasure to work with.

Interview with bb blue

  1. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  2. A: I think my production/vocal production would be my strongest, with vocal melodies falling right behind that.

  3. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  4. A: I work with Logic X, a Shure SM7B microphone, and Apogee Duet 2 sound card, as well as all plugins by Waves, and use mostly soft synths, especially Omnisphere & Trillian, but can also deliver live instruments as well.

  5. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  6. A: I think I bring unique melody and lyrical ideas, with melody being my strong point. Also I feel like I have a very diverse set of influences, so I never like to make the same song twice. I'm always looking for a way to bring something different to the table for each song.

  7. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  8. A: Usually pop music with electronic roots and an 80s influence.

  9. Q: What's your typical work process?

  10. A: It always differs. Sometimes melody comes first, sometimes lyrical ideas, sometimes its just a piano, or sometimes its a track idea.

  11. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  12. A: I'm inspired by the things I hear every single day! I am especially inspired by the music of the 1980s and the indie pop of today!

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: I am willing to work in a variety of ways! I can start from scratch on a production, produce and finish an existing song, co-production, demo vocals, lyrics, top line melody, tracks for writing topline, the list goes on!
