Interview with Phaze Minor Music

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I recently released an EP on all platforms called "untitled." I am proud of it because it's the first serious album, I have made in a while. I wrote and produced everything on this album. Also, it was years in the making.

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Analog. It's organic and hits different!

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: Satisfaction Guaranteed!

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: It's the passion ❤️‍🔥

  9. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  10. A: Clients ask for a price, then they ask if they can get a deal. I say my standard rate, and I tell them they can also have the option of booking "block" hours, for a discounted rate or a deal. They also ask If make or have any beats for sale. My answer is yes, but then I go into depth with the leasing and exclusive explanations regarding licensing.

  11. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  12. A: Some think music is free and inexpensive to make, but equipment is expensive, also time and energy is precious and not a good thing to waste especially when no value is being returned to you while you are creating for that client.

  13. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  14. A: What kind of music and feel are you looking for in the final product? Do you have a vision?

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Been creating for over 20 years.

  21. Q: How would you describe your style?

  22. A: Unique, unusual, different, complex

  23. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  24. A: I would like to work with Jimi Hendrix because he was experimental and risk taking. Pure Soul and Emotion

  25. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  26. A: Never finish a song in one day because you will find something you can add or take out later.

  27. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  28. A: Hip Hop and Alternative Rock

  29. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  30. A: Sequencing powerful drum rhythms

  31. Q: What's your typical work process?

  32. A: I start with inspiration, then I usually start with the melody. I can top-line during this process as well. Then I add drums. After that, I arrange usually in an 8 bar hook and an 8 bar verse pattern.

  33. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  34. A: Anyone out there that is sacrificing for the love of the craft of making great music

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: originality and taste

  37. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  38. A: Complex Studio Bedroom setup for the best sonic quality possible. Armed with a German synth and an analog drum machine, all recorded into Ableton. Sound treated room with Primacoustic Bass Traps.
