Matt is a pro!

Matt is really really good. I sent him a pretty complete track that needed to go from hi-quality demo to record release ready and he crushed it. Super fast quick revisions. He got it right in three passes. From the day he got the project to finished was 5 days. When he sent me the final mix I thought it was outstanding, but the mastered version polished it and made it really professional. It really took it over the top. I gave him very detailed tweak notes and he got them all right!

Matt was very thorough and provided specific insightful advice that was absent in both the structure and dynamic working of the song. He helped propel this piece forward and I greatly appreciate his timeliness, professionalism and ear!

This was my second time working with Matt on mixing a song and it was again a really great experience. His creative taste and input made for an exceptional mix, he handled the vocal tracks very well and went above and beyond in helping craft the drum sound. Could not have hoped for a better mix. He is a great person to work with as well, clear and fast communication, you can tell he listening to your needs as an artist. Look forward to working with him again soon.

Interview with Matt Bishop
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: As an engineer on U2's "Songs Of Experience" it was a very high pressure environment that had no room for error. It was a lot of hard work and long hours that helped me learn a lot about myself. It was such an honor to be able to create music with true living legends.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I cant live without either. The convenience of digital mixed with the unpredictability of analog is really the golden ticket.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To help them achieve something they will be proud of.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love the variety in what I do. I love being able to help someone realize the full potential in their art.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop, Universal Apollo Interface, Stratocaster, Juno 6, SM7
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been working full time as a producer/mixer/engineer for the last 11 years in Los Angeles. I started my career as an intern at Clearlake Audio in Burbank, CA. My time there allowed me to meet many people and make connections that lead to full-time engineering for producer Jacknife Lee. Working with Jacknife really allowed me to hone my skills and learn from some of the greatest musicians and producers in the world.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Perfect is boring
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Pro Tools and Logic are my DAW's of choice. I try and have instruments and gear that inspire creativity and exploration.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mixing & Production
