Great great great talent!! Sissy is exremely gifted. Her delivery made my eyes watery even though I have heard the song at least 200 times in the writing and production process. It is pretty hard to top her singing! Hope to work with her again! 1000 out of 5 stars! Oh yeah, of course, professional, awesome quality and great turn around time :-)

Very rarely do you get a track back after the first pass and it gives you goose bumps. That is Sissy!
I have worked with a lot of singers. Sissy is a total pro technically but also has an incredible vibe which is something you cannot tune or fix. It's either there or not. Sissy breathed life into my track and I could not be happier.I have already sent her another track to work on.
I have found my Soundbetter vocalist!!!!

I've only recently discovered Soundbetter and my first experience has been an extremely positive one. Sissy is a great performer and delivered as she promised. I love her timbre and style and she did a terrific job for all the vocals of my song. I'll definitely recommend her to my fellow songwriters.

I recently did a co-writing session with Sissy for a mutually known artist wth Sissy being the demo vocalist for the work. Let me say, this girl can SINGGGGGGG! She is so fun to work with, so focused and has a deep well of influences to draw from. Good vibes. I will absolutely book her again.

Interview with Sissy S.

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I got to do vocals for a project someone was doing for their daughter. The client told me she had suffered with some mental health issues and he wanted to give her the song as a gift to help her and tell her everything was ok. it was by far the most emotional project I've done so far and the most fulfilling. We still talk and are friends after working together!

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I'm actually working on releasing my first single! - along with doing up to 4-5 soundbetter projects per week!

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Yes! Charlie Bryce Wallace - amazing producer. He really puts in the time and effort on every project and has such insanely creative ideas.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I don't have an answer to this.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I'll do as much as I can to make your vision for you project a reality.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I love the reaction from clients when something they've brought to me finally comes to fruition for them. Once you add a vocal track to an instrumental or you have the right singer on it, things start to feel real. My favorite thing is making my clients happy through my work for them.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: I don't really get a ton of questions aside from having to do with the individual projects.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: I think there's this weird assumption in the music community that pop is somehow not as artistic as say Jazz or R&B. Just because something is radio-friendly or half the world is listening to one song doesn't demean the value of that song or that writing style. I relate more to pop than I do to any other genre and for me that means something.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I ask what style/references they'd like me to use, how many extra's they're looking for (harmonies, stacks, adlibs, etc.), what editing preferences they have for the vocals (tuning, comping, etc), Also what the vocals will be used for (is this a demo? Featured vocals for release?)

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Be as concise and detailed as possible when describing what you'd like for your project - It makes giving a proper quote much easier and the more specific you are the more I can make your vision come to life!

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: I'd definitely bring a mini acoustic, a notebook, and I think that's it. Who would bring actual equipment to a desert island??

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I've been singing demos for about 6 years and writing since I learned how to sing!

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: I'd say I'm pop/indie pop with a bit of singer-songwriter thrown into the mix.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Julia Michaels has been a huge inspiration to my writing style and I'd love to get an opportunity to work with her one day.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Backup your files - more of a life tip, but I stand by it lol.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Pop is definitely my main girl.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: I think I put a lot into what I do. Whether it's getting those lead vocals juuuuuuust right before sending them off, or doing 4 revisions because that's what the client wants. I'm always giving 100% to every project I work on, no matter what it is.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring emotion. Sometimes genuine feeling is all a song needs to take it from good to amazing.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: It usually takes me about a week to finish vocals on a song depending on how many projects I have at one time. I start out by doing a rough scratch of them a few days after receiving the project. After I feel like I know the song a bit better I record the final vocals and all the bells and whistles (harmonies, backgrounds, etc.). The last few days of a project I spend editing.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: For a mic I have a Neumann U-87 + pop filter. The room I record in is a home studio - Background noise in the tracks has never been an issue. I use mostly Logic and ProTools to record and edit my vocals.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I'm a huge fan of the singers I think I sound the most like - Billie Eilish, Sasha Sloan, Bea Miller, etc. I think they all have such different sounds.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Demo vocals are definitely the jobs I get most requested for!
