Mixing and Sound-Design, 15+ Yrs Experience, Laurens van de Loo is an professional Munich-based mixing / mastering engineer and sound designer. He has been working with artists and film productions for many years.

Laurens van de Loo is highly dedicated to provide the best possible result for each individual customer's needs. He started producing and recording music at a young age. After his graduation as sound engineer, he worked for Ambient Recording a international well-known company for professional location sound products and then 6 years as a sound engineer at Orange Sound Studios. Over the last years he could gain a lot of experience and knowledge in editing audio content. Laurens is well experienced in mixing movie, trailer, music and media content.

As a re-recording mixer and sound-designer Laurens has worked on various video projects included the film “Freaks” mixed in Dolby Atmos and released on Netflix.

Mixing and Recording has been one of Laurens great passions for over 15 years.

Interview with Laurens van de Loo

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: When I finished one of my first cinema mix on a SSL Axiom and had the premiere in front of a large audience. The film was called "wenn der Vorhang fällt" a review of the oldschool rap scene with some of the most famous rappers from Germany.

  3. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  4. A: Information about all relevant technical requirements concerning the audio processing. What is the deadline and whether individual stems are required. In which format and stream service it will appear.

  5. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  6. A: Knife, surfboard, guitar, salt and pepper

  7. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  8. A: Pop/Electronic/HipHop/Soul

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: Mixing and Sound-Design. I appreciate a good cooperation and to be involved in projects. Every job brings new challenges that need to be mastered.

  11. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  12. A: love for both worlds! Each project has its own requirements and needs different approaches. As an example I work purely digital in the area of post production. But when it comes to recording I will heat up all my outboard to get the best possible signal.

  13. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  14. A: It is important for me to always meet the expectations. I work until all parties are satisfied with their project.

  15. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  16. A: Leave space for the important elements and do not overload the content.

  17. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  18. A: My professional experience that allows me to work efficiently and reliably. I am always interested in trying new tools that improve my work.

  19. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  20. A: My studio is digital and analog. I have a great selection of outboard, microphones and synthesizers. For sound design I have access to a well organized sound archive. I use all common plugins for any level standard.

  21. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  22. A: My scope of work ranges from editing, mixing, creating SFX, recording vocals. I appreciate working in a varied profession and creating new visions with artists.
