I'm an LA Session Keyboard Player/Pianist. With over 15 years experience, I've worked with various chart topping artists including Demi Lovato, Marina, Daya, Bea Miller, Rachel Platten, Charli XCX, Julia Michaels, Sabrina Carpenter, Cher Lloyd, Zara Larsson, Christina Novelli, Duke Dumont, Tan Weiwei, etc.

I began learning Classical Piano at age 4, moving to Jazz in my teenage years and acquiring my degree in Popular Music Performance soon after. Since then I have gained a wide range of experience from performing live shows, headline festivals and world tours with incredible artists, to remote recording sessions for artists singles and albums, including piano tracks, synth tracks, top-line writing, vocal recording, and writing full instrumental tracks.

Interview with Danielle McGinley

Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both! Best of both worlds
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Mike Avenaim, best drummer around.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: easy - Kronos, Arp, Roland TR8, Shure SM7B, Apollo x6 interface.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been playing the Piano and singing since I was a small child. I started playing gigs in my late teens, which involved joining bands where I initially learnt how to program keyboards and synths. This led to session work and playing with chart topping artists where programming sounds as accurately to the record as possible is imperative along with being able to play intricate piano and synth parts live. From here I developed my business and started doing remote sessions on the side when I'm not on the road. I've been working as a professional musician for 15 years.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: All. Pop, Rock, Classical, Jazz, etc.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My parts add excitement and life sonically to a clients project.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have my main board a Korg Kronos X that I primarily use to program with, in addition to plug ins including Arturia, Kontakt, Native Instruments, Uhe, etc. I have an Apollo x6 interface. I also own a Minibrute, ARP Odyssey, Roland Juno, Jupiter modules, and more. I also have a Shure SM7B I use for Vocals. This set up gives me a lot of options to deliver on clients specific requests.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Remote keyboard tracking. Clients ask for piano or synthesizer parts, I do my best to deliver on their vision sonically within a short timeframe/turn-around.
