Ben is one of the most talented producers I know! His workflow is so efficient and he is very easy to work with! He is also a master with comping, vocal production and bringing your vision to life! He’s someone I will be recommending and working with continually!
Ben is such a dope producer, working with him in the studio was a lot of fun. He’s super quick and has a knack for adding elements to a song that’ll catch your ear and stand out. His trap beats are out of control in the best way.
I’ve worked with him on some EDM tracks and plan on working with him again. He is amazing at his craft and his sound selection is always on point. I highly recommend him if you want someone who knows what they’re doing!
Ben is without question one of the best producers I have worked with to date. His knowledge in production is well beyond his years. Not only did he make me an amazing beat, but he was also extremely helpful during the writing process. I would contact him if you are looking to create top notch tracks.
Ben is a wizard in the box. I’ve seen this guy make top 40 sounding tracks using stock plugins while mixing on laptop speakers. How? Because his producer ear and his musical compass is unmatched. He’s a true professional, a master of his craft, and the secret weapon to my music projects. I’m grateful to work with Ben on various productions across multiple genres of music. He’s a one of a kind producer and a multi talented instrumentalist who adapts to the needs of a project and knows how to make your song better. I’m excited to keep making amazing music with Ben and I’d highly recommend
‘Ben is a very talented producer. Loved shadowing & watching him work on sound design / shoot song ideas off with. Highly recommended 👌🏻’
"I recently worked with Ben where he tracked and mixed my vocals. He was both efficient and a pleasure to be around. Ben is also an incredible producer. He definitely brings a current and unique sound to the table every time. I would highly recommend Ben if you need a great track, mixing, engineering, or help learning about any of the 3.”
Interview with Ben Serra
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both have their own applications; Analog definitely helps improve vocal production before being printed into the DAW.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love to see an artist's face when I finish their project and it fits their vision perfectly. Seeing heir ecstatic energy come out when they are vibing with the track is addictive to watch; comparable to playing a show in front of thousands of people
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: How long have you been making music? Do you have experience recording in a studio/working in a studio? Do you need to take a 10-minute break?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: If you can present your vision in a formal and focused manner, then it makes my job easier. I have been very confused with clients when they come to me with a project, but describe their project in a vague manner; i.e. 'I want something epic and anthemic'. This phrase does not describe in full detail what the artist wants. There is a wide spectrum of anthemic and epic music across all genres. Be descriptive and creative, possibly sending a mix of references that you would like to blend.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Any five pieces of gear that my friends TJ, Adam & Mario have. I trust their choice selection fully!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been a TV/Film Composer since 2017 when I graduated from Berklee College of Music. I have been a musician since I was 12 years old, with experience working with professionals at the age of 19.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I wouldn't say that I have a specific style that I create solely; I have produced tracks in a multitude of different genres. The most defining characteristic that I incorporate involves a heavy focus on powerful drum processing and bass being an equal and prominent key in the mix.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Karra; she is one of the most talented singers/vocal engineers & songwriters in the music industry.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Overthinking can kill your creativity!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I receive pitches for trailer music, hip hop, pop, rock & classical music. These are genres I enjoy to listen to regularly, so it keeps me engaged consistently.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I have a great ear for balanced mixing and sound design. I know how to tailor sounds in a track that works well with a diverse range of unique vocal performances.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I can either build a great song from scratch and adjust to each client's needs, no matter what they suggest. I have a talent for sound selection and proper mixing techniques, alongside a great ear for catchy melodies/leads. I also can provide insight and improvement on previously produced tracks that a client may feel needs more work on.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Studio set-up is listed above.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: top songwriters and producers like Scott Storch & Max Martin, engineers like Chris Lord Alge, and artists like Ariana Grande inspire me to push my content and skills always to the next level. You always can improve on your skills, even as an award-winning member of the music business!
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common jobs that I do for clients are Music Production jobs & Recording Engineer work.
